About us:

Damen Song Cam Shipyard Co., Ltd (DSCS) is a joint venture between Damen Workboats in the Netherlands (70%) and Song Cam Shipyard (30%), member of SBIC and based in Haiphong, Vietnam. At a 42 hectares site just outside Haiphong, Damen Song Cam is a strategic and preferred production location within the Damen Workboats to produce tug- and workboats up to 60 meters. At the moment the shipyard is a dedicated outfitting shipyard: up to 45 hulls are procured from our partner shipyards. DSCS is performing outfitting, commissioning and delivery to clients worldwide. The strategy to grow is successful. Growth in volume, expanding the product portfolio, expanding other maritime activities (services, supervision) within the group.

Technical support department is one of four departments in Technical department of Damen Song Cam shipyard and is under supervision of Technical manager. Technical support department consists of following sub departments:

- Work Preparation

- Production Support

The role:

Work preparators must work in corporation with other teams to prepare information package for ships to be built at the DSCS yard, maintain and continuous improve quality of shop order and shop order structure.

Key accountabilities:

- In relation with Purchasing (in the case of buying parts):

  • Compiles the information and makes it available, then sends the purchase requisition to the Purchasing department.
  • Provide the deadline to buy supplies and parts for Purchasing department to follow to ensure the project progress.

- In relation to Production:

  • Prepare the drawings, production information and Job list in the form of shop order.
  • Provide full range of technical information and background to ensure on-time operation and progress.
  • Send the Shop orders including deadline and essential information to complete for Production. This will serve as guideline for Production

- In relation to Stores and Logistics:

  • Make shop order with available information for Store and Logistics to receive and transfer goods to the production areas.
  • Send information needed to Logistics to buy small parts.

- Functional: Performs with minimum guidance for below tasks:

  • Creating and maintaining production PBS
  • Responsible for completeness and stability of template in terms of structure and content. (BOM, demand and shop orders)
  • Responsible for the quality of the demand generated by templates: no demand in the past, alignment with the lead time, no latest order date in the past.
  • Responsible for the standardization and quality of the shop orders content.
  • Maintaining alignment between shop order planning and activity planning.
  • Connect with Engineering and control the changes in production templates.
  • Participate into the feedback loop and improve the quality of the templates.

- Improvement:

  • Participate in the improvement of the process and his / her team performance

- General regulations:

  • Compliance with company and employment regulations
  • Keep the workplace clean and in order
  • Meet the "HSEQ Statement" and applicable safety regulations (including legal obligations)

Skills & experience:

  • Qualification in Shipbuilding / Mechanical/ Electrical Engineer
  • Computer skills including AutoCAD, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Technical insight
  • Elementary written and verbal English skill
  • 1-3 year experience in Shipbuilding (preferably in Damen yards), Mechanical/ Piping/ Electrical field.

DSC yards have extensive experience – completing more than 1,300 projects every year, from normal drydockings for scheduled maintenance to damage repair, right up to extensive refit and conversion projects.

Services

Components

Damen is also specialised in the design and production of various marine components including propeller nozzles, rudders, special towing winches, anchors, anchor chains and steel works.
